Taiwan - JiuFen -> Yehliu Geopark -> Yang Ming Shan National Park (Part 4)

Image
Part 4 but not the last yet :| I did mention in Part 3 that I will try my best to fit the remaining in 1 last post but I failed! It's not like I tried hard...hehehe I suppose you would prefer to read a sincere post. *cough* #self-assuming After spending a night in Hua Lien, we started our journey to JiuFen. JiuFen is a mountain area in the Ruifang District of New Taipei City near Keelung, Taiwan. It's an interesting place with cooling weather and shops though I find it a tad commercialize. The view along Suhua highway. Top: Our rented Nissan Teana. A short pause as Bin wanted to take pictures. Bottom: Su-ou Port, a multi-function seaport that also houses a naval base. After a 90-minute drive, we finally arrived at JiuFen. Could have been faster...if not bcoz of..erm...erm... Where we stay.............NOT. It was too expensive so we opted for a cheaper option. The owner of our guest house is a cute granny :). Sounds familiar to you? (if only you know Chin

Rainy Night

Image
I want to write a proper entry but it's raining outside...lol. How do they relate? I just need an excuse not to blog a proper post tonight. It's just one of those nights where you feel like skipping your routine, empty your mind and act according to your heart instead of brain. Ok...ok... I know it's just me feeling that way :| In fact, I am just too lazy to edit the photos and dig out old info.  I need the following desperately now: DETERMINATION PERSISTENCE PASSION & most importantly -> ACTION ! I need to get back to work now. Promise it's gonna be a proper post the next round :). Many people think they want things, but they don't really have the strength, the discipline. They are weak. I believe that you get what you want if you want it badly enough. ~Sophia Loren

Laos - Vientiane

Image
You must be wondering "what about Taiwan?" when you see the title of this post. In order not to bore you, I've decided to blog about my Laos trip before I continue with my Taiwan posts. Yes, I know I am very considerate, you're welcome :p The trip was done between 6th of January 2011 - 13th of January 2011. It was winter in Laos and also the best time to visit Laos. We started our Laos trip in Vientiane (capital of Laos), then flew to Luang Prabang the next day followed by a stopover at Vang Vieng and back to Vientiane again.  We bought our air ticket to Luang Prabang from Laos Airlines once we landed in Wattay International Airport on the first day. After that, we took a cab to the city, found our guest house and headed out for our day in Vientiane. Lao tuk-tuk, similar to Thailand's tuk-tuk Had a walk next to Mekong river, construction going on here. Sunset at Mekong. Had our dinner at the road side. The typical clear soup noodle in Laos

Tea time / Early dinner

Image
Had tea time / early dinner at mamak. They sell otak-otak here! Red in color. I still prefer the ones from Muar. I only had one. I used to eat around 5-6 pieces once and fell sick the next day -_- => otak-otak overdosed No. I didn't have this coz of the lemak :S I had this, RM 1.00. I will be back again :) The only piece of otak-otak I had with Limau Ais. A blissful evening, I guess it's time to head home. I wish you a great evening :) What is the meaning of life? Taiwan - Kenting -> CingJing Farm -> Taroko Gorge -> Hua Lien (Part 3)

Image
Motorbike is the best vehicle to travel in Kenting especially in summer time. Riding along the seaside and feeling the sea breeze is one of the unforgettable experience I had in Kenting. Us with the rented scooters (Laxe - the tree hugger -_-) We were riding along the seaside We went to the beach after a long ride under the scorching sun. It was great to be in the cooling water after sweating so much! Dinner settled at Kenting night market The next morning, we headed to Taichung, rented a car and drove all the way to Cingjing Farm in Nantou County. Cingjing farm is a place with cooling weather like Cameron or Genting but instead of Casino & plantation, it's famous for its farm. CingJing Farm. The view from our hotel room. Lovely, ain't it :)? After checking into the hotel, we rushed to CingJing Farm but we were too late -_-. So we took a detour to the Small Swiss Garden - the Taiwan's Little Switzerland. The garden was decorated in Summer t

A Mushroom Day

Image
I was loitering in alpha boy's garden and bumped into these cute looking plants (at least to me :D). Ended up spending 15 minutes taking pictures (got bitten N-times by mosquitoes).  Lone Shroom Growing wildly in the garden A cute one with a large cap Twins Two is better than one Round cap Can someone tell me if they are edible?  If they are, it would be a waste not to turn them into food :p I love to eat mushrooms, especially fresh mushrooms like Portabello and button mushrooms. The problem is, I find the fresh mushrooms in supermarket expensive compare to those dried mushrooms and canned button mushrooms imported from China (side effect of getting cheaper mushrooms in OZ & UK -.-). So, wouldn't it be amazing if fresh and edible mushrooms are growing in your garden :O? It has been bothering me since I discovered the mushrooms in alpha boy's garden. How can I find out if the mushrooms are edible? I've tried Google search but I
