Laos - Luang Prabang (1)

Image
You can travel to Luang Prabang by bus but it will take you around 11-13 hours, that's half a day gone on a bumpy road with endless potholes. Due to time constraint, we decided to take a flight, ticket's around USD 80+ per person.  Lao Airlines from Vientiane to Luang Prabang View from the flight Luang Prabang is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE city. The architecture of the houses are French-influenced. The city reminds me of Melaka. Our 1st destination is Haw Kham (after we dropped our luggage in the guest house. BUT... our great trip has been marred by 1 incident and it all started from this guest house! To be told later #makingyoucurioussothatyouwillcontinuetoreadon), the former royal palace and now national museum. Walking to Haw Kham. We are not allowed to take any photos in the palace. We walked to Phou Si the main hill in Luang Prabang after our visit at Haw Kham.  The stairway to Phou Si. It's not very steep but I am a weak lady ~ so it took me a whil...

Taiwan - Tamshui -> Shilin Night Market -> Taipei 101 (Part 5 - final)

The final post on my 2010 Taiwan trip ! Yeah, I know. I need almost 2 years to blog a trip. But I am still proud of myself at least I didn't give up! #shameless We continued our drive back to Taipei city after Yangminshan National Park. We went to the famous Tamshui (Danshui) once we arrived in Taipei. It is a place I always wanted to visit as I've read about it many times in love novels (yes, I am a romance addict - another secret exposed -.-). It is a popular location for viewing the sunset with restaurants along the riverside. Too bad, it was a gloomy day. The famous Tamshui Fisherman's Wharf Laxe buying his favorite quail eggs. The sauce is delicious. One of the famous local drinks - sour plum tea After spending a romantic great afternoon in Tamsui, we drove to Ximending to check into our accommodation, dropped our luggage and headed straight to Shilin night market, one of the largest in Taiwan! The last time I read on news, the stalls here wer...

A Mushroom Day

Image
I was loitering in alpha boy's garden and bumped into these cute looking plants (at least to me :D). Ended up spending 15 minutes taking pictures (got bitten N-times by mosquitoes).  Lone Shroom Growing wildly in the garden A cute one with a large cap Twins Two is better than one Round cap Can someone tell me if they are edible?  If they are, it would be a waste not to turn them into food :p I love to eat mushrooms, especially fresh mushrooms like Portabello and button mushrooms. The problem is, I find the fresh mushrooms in supermarket expensive compare to those dried mushrooms and canned button mushrooms imported from China (side effect of getting cheaper mushrooms in OZ & UK -.-). So, wouldn't it be amazing if fresh and edible mushrooms are growing in your garden :O? It has been bothering me since I discovered the mushrooms in alpha boy's garden. How can I find out if the mushrooms are edible? I've tried Google search but I ...
